Fatal Vehicle Crash - Town of Wilson

On November 16, 2016 at 8:38 a.m. the Dunn County E-911 Center received a report of a two car motor vehicle crash on STH 64 near 630th Street in the Town of Wilson. The caller also reported road blockage and personal injury.


Gold Cross Ambulance, Prairie Farm Fire, Colfax Ambulance, Dallas Ambulance, Ridgeland Fire and Dunn County First Responders also arrived at the scene to assist.


Deputies arrived on the scene and found that there was a car and pickup truck involved in the crash. They also found that the female driver of car was alone and had been killed in the crash. The male driver of the pickup was also alone and was injured in the crash, and was flown to Regis Medical Center in the Twin Cities. The seriousness of his injuries are not known.


The crash investigation indicates that the car was east bound and crossed over the center line and struck the pickup truck head-on.


The crash remains under investigation by the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol. The name of the victim is not being released at this time pending family notification.

Danica J. Smith, 32 years of Sirona, WI was killed in the crash. She was driving a 2002 Dodge Stratus. She was east bound at the time of the crash.


Steven M. Matthys, 61 years old of Barron, WI was injuried and transported to Regions Medical Center in Minnesota. He was west bound at the time of the crash.


Both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash. No other information about the crash is available at this time.
