Hit & Run to Pedestrian - Village of Colfax

On Friday, December 9, 2016 at approximately 5:36 A.M. the Dunn County E-911 Communications Center received a call reporting a pedestrian being struck by a small vehicle. The vehicle was south bound on Main Street / STH 40 at 5th Ave and ended up leaving the scene, continuing southbound. Dunn County Sheriff’s Deputies and Colfax Ambulance were dispatched to the scene.

When deputies arrived at the scene, Colfax Ambulance had already arrived and was caring for the injured person. The injured person was identified as the pedestrian who had been struck and was being prepared to be transported to the hospital. That person was identified as Linda Salazar, 67 years old of Colfax, WI. She had been struck while walking west bound on 5th Ave. and was crossing Main Street / STH 40. Her injuries were believed to be very serious at that time. She was transported to Mayo Eau Claire Hospital by Colfax Ambulance.

Approximately 20 minutes after the crash occurred, a vehicle arrived at the scene and the operator admitted that she was the one that struck “something” at that intersection and later admitted that she knew it was a person walking along or across Main Street. That operator was identified as Jami Golden, 37 years old, of Colfax, WI. Golden was cited for:

  • Operating a Motor Vehicle without Insurance

  • Hit and Run – Involving Great Bodily Harm

  • Failure of Occupant to Notify Police of Accident

  • Obstructed Drivers Vision – Front View

Golden is in custody at the Dunn County Jail on a Probation Hold at this time.

No further information is available at this time. We have no current information about Linda Salazar’s condition.
